Billy Kincaid review. (pics)

I would like to preface this review by saying that just calling this a CC piece does no service to it. This figure is essentially a boxed set #2. This thing is of quite substantial size. It's great to see McF packing so much stuff into their figures, especially for a CC piece. I have included comparison pics with various other figures from my collection.

Sculpt

The sculpt on this is outstanding. The base is extremely well detailed, especially the brick-work and asphalt ground. They also did an excellent job of creating cut-off points, on the sides, top, and around the bottom. When you look at it, you don't think "Oh...that should continue further" or "Crap, the sculpt just stops there."

As for the figure, it as well excellent. THey did an excellent job of transforming the 2D image into a 3D, while having to add tons of detail that wasn't in the shadowy figure. For instance, the dirty tighty-whities. The comic implies that Billy was probably naked, but obviously they couldn't do that with the figure. Maybe not, that's just an assumption. But they picked a great way to show what was down there, while keeping him in character and doing a great job of it. There is also the hair sculpt. I guess at other points in the comic, you see that the back of his head is shaved and he has kind of a mop-top. It's nice to see that they didn't miss that. As well, they added the Spawn brand on his back, which is a nice touch.

Then there are the small details that really make it believable, like the popsicle dripping off the stick. It's these small details that make a McF figure stand out.

Paint

Unfortunately, I don't have much to say on this. The paint is excellent, but nothing really noteworthy to mention, save a couple things. The blood splatter and smear is well done, not to excess. It was also done to scale, with blood spots not being too big or too small.

Then there are just small things worth pointing out, like the paint on the brand, which really makes it look like a burn.

The only problem on mine is a bit of bleed from the note onto his left breast, but it's a minor issue.

Engineering

Only a few things worth mentioning here. The base fits together well, except I do have a small issue with their new snap-in pieces, that was also used on the Rasputin figure. With this method, once the pieces are together, they are nearly impossible to remove without breaking off one of the 'clips'. Don't really know why they don't just use a thick peg.

The support rod works well, although it may look a bit out of place. Many people have just draped him up using the chains, but only time will tell what results this will have due to the weight of the figure. I also imagine it is pretty tough to hang him just right with all the chains, which get in the way enough while trying to assemble the base.

Oh, and one of my popsicle sticks was bent against the inside of the package, and it remains that way. (bottom right)

another figure I would have like to have two of but too much cash. its for sure a lot of plastic! he weighs a ton. pretty wild toy. makes me happy to see the bad guy really getting it!
